Neighbor’s day

For the second consecutive year, the International Church of Brussels successfully held “Neighbor’s Day,” coinciding with the city’s Car-Free Sunday (September 22, 2024, and September 21, 2025). This event has become a beautiful tradition that reflects the church’s desire to build stronger ties with the local community, foster friendship with neighbors, and open its doors so that everyone can experience the warm and welcoming spirit that characterizes the congregation.

During this special day, the street in front of the church was transformed into a lively and family-friendly meeting place. Thanks to the support of ADRA’s Food Truck, free hamburgers were offered to all visitors, along with drinks and desserts. The atmosphere was festive and full of smiles, with church volunteers joyfully serving everyone who stopped by.

In addition to the food, there were activities for children, such as crafts, face painting, and a game table where both kids and adults could sit together and enjoy various board games. This space allowed local families to feel welcome and, for many, it was their first encounter with the Adventist community in their own neighborhood.

Weeks before the event, church members carried out an invitation campaign, distributing flyers throughout the nearby streets and personally inviting local residents. Thanks to this effort, many neighbors came by—some because they had received an invitation, and others simply because they were drawn in by the joyful atmosphere.

One of this year’s new additions was the collaboration with the Living Well Center, who set up two massage chairs to offer free sessions to anyone interested. This initiative was greatly appreciated by visitors, who enjoyed a moment of relaxation amid the city’s lively day.

Beyond the activities and food, “Neighbor’s Day” was an opportunity to serve, share hope, and build bridges. Every conversation, every smile, and every act of service reflected the commitment of the International Church of Brussels to being a friendly and relevant church for its community.

Undoubtedly, every time the church steps outside its walls to serve others, it becomes a blessing—not only for those who receive but also for those who give. This event is a beautiful reminder that mission begins the moment we step outside our church doors.
