Open Church in Liège

From Saturday, May 31 to Sunday, June 1, 2025, the Adventist church of Liège held its second consecutive Open Churches weekend. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet neighbors, friends, and casual visitors within the church itself.

After ADRA Belgium and its activities last year, this time a beautiful exhibition entitled “The Bible, Heritage of Humanity” was presented to the public. Prepared by the French Bible Alliance in collaboration with the European Institute for Religious Studies (IESR), it offered the chance to discover the Bible from different perspectives.

About thirty visitors, divided into two sessions (one during the week and one on the weekend), were able to explore six panels on the following themes:

  • The origins of the Bible
  • The transmitted Bible
  • The Bible and translations
  • The Bible and culture
  • The world of the Bible
  • Encounters with the Bible

During the weekend, guests were welcomed with additional activities: a beautiful mini gospel concert on Saturday by the We Trust choir, and two lectures by Rivan Dos Santos, doctor of theology and professor at the Adventist Theological Faculty of Collonges-sous-Salève. His topics focused on the Bible: “Worlds and cultures around the Bible” and “The Bible, encounter between the human and the divine.” On Sunday, light refreshments were also provided. And of course, for all visitors, free brochures and books were available to continue reflecting on the “Book.”

A big thank-you goes to all the church members who invested themselves to make this program a wonderful moment of collaboration and an original way of sharing the Bible—not only as “heritage of humanity” but also as the living Word of God for all people.
