On October 4th, more than one thousand members and friends of the Belgian-Luxembourg Federation gathered in the heart of Brussels to take part in a spiritual congress. The previous in-person edition dated back to 2018. Since then, many events have profoundly affected both our society and our Federation. Meeting one another again brought great joy, while also evoking the memory of those who are no longer with us.
The chosen theme was particularly thought-provoking: “Chameleon or Authentic? Living the Mission without Losing Our Identity.” Leo Lopez, a pastor serving in French-speaking Switzerland, kindly accepted the invitation to guide our reflections. His messages deeply touched the audience. Leo is a gifted speaker, known for his ability to combine seriousness with humor, to raise challenging questions while delivering uplifting and faith-filled messages. Above all, he speaks with genuine authenticity – and a slight accent that only adds to his charm.

No congress would be complete without moments of praise and worship. Participants were richly blessed, joining in heartfelt singing with the Praise Band from Antwerp and later enjoying a beautiful afternoon concert featuring several choirs and soloists.

A number of humorous sketches were also included in the programme, offering light-hearted yet meaningful reflections on different styles of leadership and various ways of reaching out to our contemporaries.
The children were by no means forgotten. Throughout the day, they took part in biblical reflections and engaging activities – a remarkable accomplishment in itself. A special children’s choir of nearly sixty members delighted the congregation with their joyful performances, while the children from the international church gave glory to God with a wonderful handbell presentation.
During the quieter moments, participants were able to visit information stands presenting various projects, departments, and literature. These stands were very well attended.
A special offering was collected to support the furnishing of a dedicated space and the purchase of equipment for the creation of a multimedia studio. As the sharing of the Good News increasingly takes place through digital media, such a tool will undoubtedly enable pastors and churches to produce high-quality materials. Those who wish to continue supporting this initiative may do so via the attached QR code.
Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who contributed to the success of this congress: in particular, to the technical team that faced many challenges, to all who cared for the children and youth, to the deacons, musicians and singers, actors, translators, and of course to Leo – both for his inspiring messages and his warm presence.
Thanks be to God, who granted us the blessing of experiencing this special moment together.
