An encouraging gathering focused on passing on the faith
Nearly twenty participants from Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg gathered for an MAE day (MAE = Children’s Ministry) dedicated to the spiritual support of children and young people. The meeting was marked by rich, practical, and encouraging exchanges for ministry within local churches.
The day began with a welcome and a biblical reflection centered on passing on the faith between generations, based on Exodus 12 and Judges 2, highlighting the importance of intentional, daily faith transmission. Stéphane Eucharis, invited for the occasion and head of the Youth Department of the Franco-Belgian Union, then presented the available resources and upcoming developments. This was followed by a time of sharing led by Raquel Achilas, the new MAE coordinator, during which participants discussed their experiences and projects.
In the afternoon, practical ideas were explored for spiritual activities with children and young people, adapted to different age groups. The day concluded with a workshop on object lessons and how to explain spiritual concepts to children in an accessible way.
We extend our sincere thanks to the speakers for the quality of their contributions, as well as to all the participants who made the journey. The exchanges were greatly appreciated, and everyone left encouraged in their commitment. A small note: this edition was 100% female on the participants’ side… We therefore hope that a few male leaders will dare to join the adventure at the next gathering!
Everyone is already looking forward to the next meeting, convinced of the importance of continuing to support together the transmission of faith to the next generations.
