First Women’s Ministry meeting at the Church of Namur

I have attended the Adventist Church all my life, but for me, the Women’s Ministry always seemed a bit vague, as it never really found its place in our Namur community. When I was younger, I used to wonder what this ministry was actually for… Was it just an opportunity for women to gather and complain about everything that wasn’t going well in their lives, homes, or marriages? Was it meant to make them feel that they also mattered (even if their voices were only heard among themselves)? Was it some sort of feminist club? How could a group of ladies, of mothers, possibly make a difference in the church?

Through the two Women’s Ministry weekends organized by Yvonne, the Lord helped me understand the true purpose of this ministry. Indeed, we need to share our life and faith experiences. To come together in prayer around themes that personally affect us. To encourage one another. We thirst for knowledge and want to be trained so that we can better serve others. Each of us has been given gifts, and “together” we dare to use them. Once nourished and equipped, we can reach out to others and make disciples. I have never felt the presence of the Holy Spirit as strongly as during our meetings among women.

Following this, it became clear that Namur was in great need of a women’s department. By God’s grace and through many prayers, this department finally came to life! Our first meeting, on Tuesday, November 11, was a success. More than twenty women and young girls attended to share their ideas and needs. The Women’s Ministry 2026 calendar is already quite full! May the Lord help us grow this group — not only in number but above all in faith.
