As every year, Be WaPP (the environmental protection organization of the Walloon Region) organizes a campaign to clean streets and their surroundings, calling on volunteers. The group from Grammont therefore offered to participate, and four of its members volunteered on March 27.
After putting on protective gloves and yellow vests and equipping themselves with brand-new garbage bags provided by the organization, our small team got to work. Their expectations were not disappointed, as the results were abundant: in two hours, two large bags were filled.
However, this observation remains saddening. Why so much negligence from some people? Moreover, since we were only able to cover a few streets, it gives the impression that this action is just a drop in the ocean. But even if it is just a drop in the ocean, for those few streets it was well worth it!
Furthermore, a very encouraging note brightened the morning: many passersby warmly thanked us. Being registered under the name of Adventists, we pray and hope that our concrete commitment will help make our faith known and raise questions, which we will gladly answer, in order to lead souls to Christ.
We thank the Lord who blessed us with radiant weather on this Friday morning, and we pray that He will help us persevere with even greater zeal in the work He has entrusted to us, particularly the proclamation of the message of the three angels, which highlights God’s creation—a magnificent gift that we want to continue to care for, also through small actions.
So, for the next edition, I say: “Let’s grab our gloves!”
