On Sunday, February 2nd, the Federation team invited active and retired employees, the federal department heads, the members of the Federation Committee and the elders, and their respective families to share a meal together.
More than a hundred people responded to the invitation and enjoyed this convivial moment to reconnect with old acquaintances, meet new leaders, exchange news, discuss the world and the church, and, of course, share a delicious meal.
The International Church of Brussels hosted us in its new hall, and we are grateful to the twenty volunteers who set up and decorated the tables, prepared a delightful meal, and organized all the logistics and service.
In his opening speech, Yves Pierre emphasized three passages from the New Testament: “For Christ’s love compels us” (2 Corinthians 5:14), “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another” (John 13:35), and “Jesus looked at him and loved him” (Mark 10:21, referring to the rich young man). These three passages share a common theme, a central value: love. A love that gives before it receives, that commits before reaping its rewards, that looks kindly upon others while allowing them the freedom to make their own choices.
With this mission in mind, and with gratitude for the work accomplished and the commitment of all, Yves wished to mark the start of this new ecclesiastical year. May we continue to respond to Christ’s call and support one another in the coming twelve months.
