We are pleased to share the growth of the Adventist family in Belgium with the formation of a new Latin American (Hispanic-Portuguese) group in the city of Genk. This group began several months ago as an initiative of the Hasselt church, which kindly supported a group of Spanish-speaking members by allowing them to gather twice a month in its former building to worship in their own language.
Thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of its members, the group has grown quickly and now has a regular attendance of over 20 people. It is a dynamic, united, and welcoming community that, in addition to Sabbath services, organizes social activities to strengthen connections among Latinos in the region.
We are happy to announce that this group has been officially recognized by the Federation Committee as a church group. This decision validates the work done so far and encourages them to continue moving forward with new missionary projects.
Although the group operates independently, it will maintain a close relationship with the Hasselt church, with which it will continue to collaborate and organize joint activities to foster unity and spiritual growth.
The group currently meets every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Evangelische Christengemeente Zwartberg (Arbeidsstraat 56 – 3600 Genk). After the service, the members stay and share a meal together, which strengthens the spirit of fellowship and community that characterizes them.
If you come to visit, you will not only be spiritually nourished but also enjoy a delicious variety of dishes from all over Latin America. This community is always happy to share their faith, culture, and friendship with everyone who comes.
We pray that this ministry will continue to grow and be a blessing to many more in the Limburg region.
