On December 8, 2024, the Ministry for Women organized a convivial study day in Brussels with Dr. Daniela Gelbrich, Vice-Dean and Professor of Old Testament at the Faculty of Collonges. The program was titled “Exploring the Beauty of Biblical Verses.”
Daniela reminded us of a quote from Ellen G. White: “In studying the Scriptures, we must not strive to interpret its statements in a way that aligns with our preconceived ideas.”
The three steps of an inductive Bible text study were presented:
- Observe (the content of the text)
- Interpret (the meaning of the text)
- Apply (its relevance to my life)
A short group activity provided the opportunity to apply what was learned, and each group presented the results of their discussions in a plenary session. The program was enriched by songs performed by a duo from Liège and the women’s group from Namur. The beautiful morning was concluded with a communal lunch.
Here are testimonies from two participants:
“I am delighted and grateful to God for the inductive study of the Bible text by Daniela, which opened my spiritual eyes to see more clearly. From now on, my approach to Bible study will be more enlightening, easier to apply, and simpler to share with others.”
“It was amazing to learn a new technique to study the Bible. After practicing it during the presentation, it’s incredible to see how much more you can extract from God’s Word by intentionally observing the text, interpreting it, and applying it to today’s life. Reading the Bible will take on a different meaning for me in the future.”
We look forward to our next gathering, “The Women’s Spiritual Weekend,” which will take place during the Easter weekend from April 18 to 20, 2025, in Brussels (Maison N-D. Chant d’Oiseau).
