The federal committee of the “Adventist Youth” (called Staff JA), made up inter alia of the boards of directors of the associations of Adventist youth on the territory of our Belgian-Luxembourg federation, met on March 30 and April 28 2020. Considering the constraints linked to the health crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, and after consultation with the people involved in our programs, the following provisions were adopted:
Federal Explorers’ Day: ZE GAME
The game originally scheduled for Sunday May 17, 2020 in Ostend is canceled.
The general assembly of ASBL JA is maintained but will be held by videoconference on Sunday June 7 at 2 p.m. Affiliated local branches are invited to appoint their delegate (s) according to the provisions of our statutes before May 4, 2021.
Even if to date a formal ban has not been promulgated by government authorities, the current situation does not allow us to maintain the planned stays this summer from July 1 to 10 in the Ardennes. Concerned about the health of the children and the educational teams, today we are making the decision to cancel the camps. Thank you to the teams contacted for their preparation work and their commitment. We present to children, young people and parents our sincere regrets at this situation beyond our control.
Camporee Union in France
The Franco-Belgian union will take a decision within a few weeks and at the latest at the beginning of June concerning the maintenance or not of the Camporee planned in France at the beginning of August. For the Belgian-Luxembourg delegation, a decision will be made during June based on government directives regarding our participation in this event.
Committed Leaders Convention (CLE)
The animators’ return program, CLE, is to this day maintained as planned, in Kortrijk from 4 to 5 September 2020. A new communication on this subject is planned for the end of June.
Meeting of AMICUS students
The European meeting of Adventist students, AMICUS, originally planned for Venice next September, will now be organized only “online” on September 24 and 25, 2020.
Dear children, young people, youth workers, collaborators and parents, we hope to be able to resume our activities as soon as conditions allow. Until then, we wish you through these moments with great courage and patience.
