On Saturday 5 October 2024, Belgium’s first English-speaking Adventist community, also known as ISDAC or the International Church of Brussels, celebrated its last Sabbath in the building on rue Ernest Allard that has been its home for the past three decades.
Local pastor David Carballo delivered a sermon entitled ‘At the Gates of the Promised Land’, highlighting the importance of moving, particularly from the city centre to a more residential area. The special service also included the dedication of two babies to the Lord.
The sermon was based on chapters 1 and 2 of Joshua, recalling Israel’s crossing of the Jordan under the leadership of Joshua, Moses’ successor. Pastor Carballo intentionally chose this passage to prepare the hearts and minds of the faithful to continue their mission. The new building, located in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, has a much greater capacity than the Federation’s previous 3rd floor, which over the years had gradually become too small to accommodate the growing number of members and visitors.
In addition to the Federation’s financial support, which stimulated members’ involvement, each member contributed financially and technically to the renovation of the building. By the grace of God, the inauguration of the new church on rue Jacque Hoton 17 is scheduled for 2 November. A warm welcome to all!
